| Method | How it behaves | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| Front-loaded | The full allowance lands at the start of the leave year. | Simplest to explain. Most small teams. |
| Monthly | An equal share added each month. | Common where leave is earned as you work. |
| Semi-monthly | Added twice a month, 24 times a year. | Matching a semi-monthly payroll. |
| Biweekly | Added every two weeks, 26 times a year. | Matching a biweekly payroll. |
| Weekly | Added every week. | Hourly or shift-heavy teams. |
| None | No automatic accrual. Balances only move when an admin grants or adjusts them. | Unlimited policies, or leave you grant case by case. |
When accrual starts counting
Pair the method with an accrual start:
- Hire date — each employee's accrual year runs from their own anniversary.
- Policy assignment date — accrual begins when they were put on this policy.
- Calendar year — everyone accrues on the same organization-wide cycle.
