The short version
Employees request time off. Managers approve it. Cabana keeps the balances straight and shows everyone who's out. That's the whole product — there's no performance review module, no applicant tracking, no onboarding checklist.
What Cabana tracks
- Leave requests — dates, leave type, half days, and a note. Every request is
pending, approved, denied, orcanceled. - Balances — accrued, carried over, used, pending, and manually adjusted, per leave type per year.
- People — your directory, departments, locations, and who reports to whom.
- Policies — the accrual and carryover rules that decide how balances move.
Where the work happens
Three surfaces, and you can mix them freely:
- The web app — the system of record. Full dashboard, calendar, reports, and all admin settings.
- Slack —
/ptoopens a request form, checks a balance, or shows who's out. Announcements post to a channel you pick. - Email — managers can approve or deny straight from the notification without signing in.
Three roles
| Role | Can do |
|---|---|
| Employee | Request time off, view their own balances and history, see the team calendar. |
| Manager | Everything an employee can, plus approve or deny requests from their direct reports. |
| Admin | Everything, plus policies, leave types, holidays, people, integrations, and billing. |
